Crimson has been FOUND! Thank you to everyone that helped find him and to the special folks that took care of him while he was lost.
Jasper the dog, rescued from a life on the streets of Jasper, and named after the town, he now has a forever home with Greg and Lisa and doggie brother Rocky in Stamford, CT
Teddy,a tiny chocolate lab puppy, was dumped on highway 7 south during icy weather. He was rescued by a family nearby, was taken to a foster home in Jasper, and stayed there for a month until he went to his new forever home with the Hughes family in Massachusetts.
These four little Australian Cattle Dog pups were dumped near Cowell. A very kind lady (Mrs. Lene') took them in and cared for them. Meanwhile, a NCAS volunteer looked for homes for them and after 3 weeks, using volunteer drivers across the Southeast US, transported them all to wonderful new homes in Florida. Thanks, Mrs. Lene'!
The pups are Sonny, Cher, Bonnie, and Clyde!
The Search for Lady…
My best friend, Lady, went missing from the campsite during the night of April 23. 2008. A strong line of thunderstorms came through the area and by the morning when the storms had cleared, there was no sign of Lady. We stayed around the campsite for hours calling her name, but no sight of her. We also hiked the horse trail out until it met a gravel road about .5 mile further inland, but nothing. We finished the float down the river and when we were picked up we began to spread the word. The people at Lost Valley Canoe helped us immediately to look around at close river access points, but she never showed. Friday we returned to the area with flyers made up to post at any highly visible area. We went to every canoe rental service that was in the upper river area, campsites, gas stations, and the grocery store. Every place that we went to was so kind and helpful. It is so nice to know how many fellow animal loving souls there are out there! After a day of searching and spreading the word we returned to Conway to wait for a phone call.
Sunday, April 27, my cell phone rang with the awesome news. The Lost Valley Canoe workers had spotted her when picking up some canoes at Pruitt. This site is only approximately .5 mile up-river from where we had originally lost her camping. She returned, tick-covered, and quite hungry, but safe and happy! They were kind enough to put her up in the bunkhouse until we could make it up there a few hours later. Seeing my best friend again was one of the happiest moments yet! The love from an animal is sometimes never fully appreciated until she has been lost. I am so grateful to the many, many kind and exceptionally helpful people that took time out of their daily lives to help search for Lady. Thank you for returning my best friend.
